There are too much people wanting to enjoy from Machu Picchu about the New Year’s Day. This program is specially designed for visiting this magical citadel along with the Titicaca lake, cradle of the Inca empire.
December 28: Lima
Getting at Lima. Welcoming and transfer to your chosen hotel.
December 29: Lima - Cuzco (B)
After having breakfast, flight to Cuzco, welcoming and transfer to your chosen hotel. Free day proper for climatizing and an for visiting the old capital city of the Inca empire. If you wish you can hire the service from one of our very knowledgeable guides.
December 30: Cuzco - Machu Picchu (B)
Very early in the morning you`ll set off by train heading for the Aguas Calientes town. Guided visit to the wonderful and mysterious citadel of Machu Picchu. This unique citadel was built high above a mountain in a site of overwhelming beautiness, surrounded by dreadful precipices. It has a great number of houses, temples and one astronomic observatory from which the sun was worshipped. All these constructions were made of granite. After this guided tour you`ll can explore by your own this architectural feat. You`ll also have the chance of having a guided trek about one hour long upward to the Sungate (Inti-punku). Maybe you would like to hike to the summit of the Wayna Picchu, from which you`ll enjoy a spectacular view of the entire Sanctuary. This option is just recommended for persons with good physical strength. Accommodation at your chosen hotel.
December 31: Machu Picchu – Cuzco (B, L D)
You`ll have the chance to go back to the citadel for having a free appreciation from this unforgettable Inca remains. Lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel placed before Machu Picchu. Returning train to Cuzco and transfer to your hotel. New Year`s dinner.
January 1: Sacred Valley (B & L)
Free day. For those travellers wanting to get along with their Perù exploration, a whole day excursion through the Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You`ll get at Pisac, a little and very peculiar artisan village. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the Indians barter their products, and the artisans sell their hand-made motley pottery, typical clothes designed with inca motives and fine jewellery. On Sundays, it is also celebrated the total attending of the very respected regional chiefs to the morning mass, offering their devotional ritual wearing their typically colourful clothes. After having lunch, you`ll visit the enchanting Ollantaytambo, the only inhabited Inca town. In this village you`ll visit its amazing fortress. You`ll get back to Cuzco going through the picturesque town of Chinchero. Return to your hotel.
January 2: Cuzco (B & D)
In the afternoon, tour around archaeological sites surrounding the city: the Sacsayhuaman fortress built on a mountain from which you can admire the entire city; Kenko, a rocky ceremonial site that has an impressive monolithic altar standing for a puma; the reddish fortress of Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay, in which its fountain fed by a spring is the most outstanding feature. In a city tour you`ll visit the majestic Plaza de Armas, the huge Cathedral and the Koricancha (Temple of the Sun). Dinner with a folkloric show.
January 3: Cuzco - Puno (B & L)
Journey in a firt class train heading for the Titicaca, the highest lake in the world located in Puno. Lying on the shores of this lake, Puno is regarded as the folkloric capital of Perù. Accommodation at your chosen hotel.
January 4: Islands of Lake Titicaca (B & L)
Excursion throughout the day in the islands of Uros and Taquile. The Uros, a group of islands built completely of tortora reeds is home to a small community dating back to a pre-Inca culture. The Taquile dwellers are more closely related to the Aymara people from Bolivia than to the Quechua Incas of Perù. Typical lunch on the island cooked by the locals. Return to your hotel in Puno.
January 5: Puno – Lima (B & L)
Transfer to the Juliaca airport heading for Lima. City tour that comprises both the viceroyal Lima and the republican. This capital formerly known as the “city of the kings” was in 1991 declared by the UNESCO a world heritage. Tour by bus leaded by a bilingual guide. This one comprises visits to the Plaza de Armas whose beautiness is enhanced by the cathedral and the Government Palace. On the nearby is located the San Francisco Convent, well regarded for its impressingly gloomy catacombs. Later visit to residential towns such as San Isidro and Miraflores, located along the beautiful Pacific coast. After having lunch enjoying an inspiring view of the Green Coast, you`ll visit the Gold Museum which originally belonged to a well afforded family, this collection comprises a great number of gold, silver and copper artefacts from several pre-inca cultures. The most valuable piece is the solid gold ceremonial knife known as Tumi, which belongs to the Lambayeque culture (350AD). In the evening, returning to the airport heading for your country.
