Inka Trail Salkantay to Machu picchu

The highest mountain of the Vilcabamba range, Salkantay (6271
metres) provides a
wonderful
background for
this trek. We
get through several high
passages from
the subtropical forest towards
a highly mountainous scenery. Finally,
we arrive to the old city of Machu Picchu.

|
|
DAY 1.-
We leave the city of the Cusco and passing by the localities of Izcuchaca and Limatambo
we arrive at Mollepata (9am. approximately). After a light breakfast we get ready along with the supporting personnel in order to start our long walk in the first day. At 12 p.m. we take the lunch in the sector denominated Silca Field. Later, after a
three hours walking, we will arrive at our first camping.

DAY 2.-
After a rich breakfast we get ready to undertake the long but rewarding walk of
the trip, leaving at 7am. We cross all the site denominated Salkantay Pampas which is located towards the left side from the snow-capped mountain called Umantay, that is next to the Salkantay. At 12pm we will be in the highest point.( Salkantay -Umantay passage about 4500m).
In this site we'll observe the most impressing snowed capped mountains and glaciers of the Salkantay and we'll appreciate the magnificent vista of the falling snow or avalanches. One hour later we'll have the
lunch. Two hours later we'll be in Huayrac, where we'll set up our second camp.

DAY 3.-
This day will be unforgettable because throughout the way we will be watching a great flora and fauna variety starting off from Huayrac. It will happen getting through the Arranniyuc community and getting along
descending towards the forest's eyebrow, where we will appreciate the thermal waters formation in
a small valley; soon we'll follow the course of the river Santa Teresa, observing in this section a great varietie of orquídeas and waterfalls of great magnitude. Finally, we arrived at our
camping in the site denominated Lluskamayu (5pm. approx.). Supper and spending the whole night.

DAY 4.-
The setting off is programmed for the 7.30 a.m. until the noon in a long walk by the forest's eyebrow where we'll have the chance to appreciate a great variety of coffee cultives, fruit trees, bananas, avocados, fragmentations of
hand grenade, and the most interesting and typical Andean plant from all, the coca leaf, a sacred herb from the Incas' time, which is cultivated at the moment only in tropical zones like this. Soon after we'll arrive at Sahuayaco, where a dusty trail begins until the lunch point.
After 3 hours of reduction we get the view of Machu Picchu from the little usual angle that had been for many time the typical point from which are taken the classical and most known Machu Picchu's photographs. Then we will stop for about an hour, ready to descend until the hydroelectric plant
where we will aboard the train that will take us to the Ruins Bridge station , where
we will make our last camping. There we'll have the supper and we'll spend the night.

DAY 5.-
Soon after having breakfast we'll dedicate the day to visiting the historical Sanctuary of MACHU
PICCHU. In the evening after the lunch, returning to the city of Cusco by train. Back packing
and transfer to your hotel.
